We have all thought about what it would be like to actually receive a message in a bottle from someone. You can’t say that you have never thought about something like that, especially here in Hawaii, where we are surrounded by ocean. Well, it seems that someone has indeed received a message in a bottle.
A message in a bottle that was thrown in the ocean by a boy in Oregon has turned up on the shores of Hawaii, Kailua-Kona to be exact. Reports are stating that the bottle was found in a tide pool by Trinity Ballesteros — a 9-year old girl from Kona. Inside was a note from Thomas Craig of Silverton of Oregon.
So what did the message say? Well, the message simply stated the following:
“Dear finder of my message, My name is Thomas and I live in Oregon,” said the note, scribbled on binder paper. “I’m ten years old and this week I’m salmon fishing deep in the ocean. I would like to hear from you. … Please wright back, Thomas.”
The message was said to include a hard to read email address, but Trinity prevailed.
With the help of her grandfather and parents, Trinity sent messages to several different email addresses about two weeks ago. Thomas — who is now 11, responded last week.
The two children have been exchanging emails and plan to become pen pals. This is a sweet and unique story that many of us wish we could experience.
