R&B superstar Usher is bringing his show to Aloha Stadium. The Hawaii Stadium Authority unanimously approved a concert at Aloha Stadium starring R&B artist Usher. They are saying the show will take place on December 30th. However, this is contingent on Usher signing a contract to perform here.
All indications are that Usher is willing to come to Hawaii, so all the necessary arrangements have already been made. Usually, Aloha Stadium is not readily made available for concerts, as the stadium needs to sell a ton of tickets to even make the event worth its time.
The economic situation in our country the last few years has really pressed Hawaii to bring in any performer who can fill Aloha Stadium to the needed capacity. It seems though that the Hawaii Stadium Authority feels that Usher is one of those acts.
To use Aloha Stadium, concert promoters need to sell roughly 30,000 tickets to get a nice return. Usher seems to have this type of drawing power, so the Stadium Authority approved the venue for December 30th.
Aloha Stadium has not been used as a concert event lately, however, it has seen its share of big names in past years. Over 40,000 fans were on hand in 2008 for a U2 concert, and during the late 1990′s through the mid-2000′s, Aloha Stadium saw award-winning recording artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, Pearl Jam and the Rolling Stones all perform inside the stadium.
Does Usher draw like this for his concerts? Apparently so, otherwise the go ahead would not have been given.
Usher, also known as Usher Raymond is from Tennessee. He celebrated his 33rd birthday earlier this month. His latest album, “Raymond Vs. Raymond,” was released along with an EP, “Versus,” in 2010 and included the tracks “OMG,” “DJ Got Us Falling in Love” and “Somebody to Love,” which have enjoyed mainstream pop success since their release.
Usher has been making hits for over 15 years, and is currently one of the biggest R&B draws around.
Again, the Aloha Stadium venue has been secured, but the concert still needs a signature on the dotted line from Usher to get the green light. Information is below. Ticket information will be updated as soon as it is available.
