Anyone who knows me, or has met me for even a few minutes, knows that my favorite meal is anything breakfast related. I don’t know what it is, I just love breakfast foods. Okay, okay, so I love food period, but breakfast is still my favorite.I am always looking for the “next big breakfast spot” to come along in Hawaii. Sure, there are some great spots, some of which are severely overrated, but I usually give each and everyone of them a chance. I have to taste several items on a menu to know whether the spot has a chance or not.I have eaten breakfast at almost every spot on the island of Oahu, and I can say without hesitation, that the Koa House is in my top three places to eat breakfast on the island.
It isn’t that the spot is fancy, and God knows it is somewhat small, but the food and the people are amazing. Story continues below…[slideshow]I have been going to the Koa House for around 10-years now, and I can say that I have never had a bad experience there. The staff is always friendly, and the food is always hot, fresh, and served fast. I have tasted everything on the menu, and I don’t ever remember having anything that was bad.The Koa House has etched itself in my memories not only because of the food, but because of the experiences I – as well as my family, have had there.
My Father used to go there at least once a week. They liked him so much, that when he came in they would have a table ready for him, and already have his order in. The first time that my family and I went to the Koa House after Dad passed away was an experience I will never forget. Not only was the entire staff in tears, but they comped our entire meal. What other place does something like that? Comment at the end of this piece if you have been somewhere that has done something like this.Anyway, enough with the sad stuff, my point is simply this. Not only does Koa House on the Windward side serve the very best breakfast food around (my personal favorite is the marinated pork and eggs) but they also employ some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
I will continue to keep an eye out for other good breakfast spots on Oahu, but I am almost positive that I will always say that The Koa House will remain my favorite spot. The Koa House has several locations on Oahu, but the Windward (Kaneohe) location is the one that started it all, and it is the one I am writing about. The next time you are in Kaneohe, you should definitely stop by and get something to eat. They close at 2 PM everyday, so come early! I guarantee it is something you will enjoy!
Thanks for the story! I love breakfast too, and I eat it for DINNER quite often! haahaa… I surely need to check out this Koa Pancake House!! 🙂
