Over 1,600 residents in the Kailua area of Oahu awoke to find they were without power, as a power outage hit the windward area of Oahu this morning.
A broken insulator on an electric pole on Palawiki Street in Kailua led to a power outage affecting 1,630 customers in the Wanaao Road area this morning.
The power outage lasted for about an hour, from about 7:35 a.m. to 8:32 a.m., said Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman Peter Rosegg.
What caused the insulator to break was not certain, although “the (bad) weather didn’t help,” he said.
The insulator has since been fixed and power has been restored to all the residents in the area.
