Gas prices are on the rise again in Hawaii, and we are no where near the summer months yet. According to Gas Buddy, Hawaii gas prices have risen 9.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $4.17 per gallon Monday.
This is discouraging for Hawaii drivers, as most of us think we are able to enjoy some sort of gas price break (relatively speaking) during the so called winter months. We expect prices to rise during the summer, but prices are on the move now. Not only that, but they are on the rise very quickly.
Gas Buddy also said this compares with the national average that has increased 5.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.55 per gallon. As you can see, it is going up almost everywhere, but Hawaii is getting the biggest price jump as usual.
Gas prices are overall higher right now then at the same time last year by over 12 cents. Prices are up by almost 20 cents from a month ago, and the national average puts gas almost 30 cents higher overall from last year.
