The University of Hawaii football team is looking to rebound this weekend after a rough outing in Nevada last week. UH is coming off a surprise loss to UNLV, one of the worst teams in the nation. The Warriors are now back home, and they will try to right the ship against a football championship subdivision team in UC Davis.
Quarterback Bryant Moniz passed for 233 yards and two scores, both of which were to slot receiver Justin Clapp, who started for an injured Jeremiah Ostrowski. Clapp tied with fellow slot Billy Ray Stutzmann for team-high honors with nine catches for 83 yards. Stutzmann had a team-high 136 yards receiving. Defensively, linebackers Corey Paredes and Aaron Brown combined for 25 tackles, two sacks, and 5.5 tackles for loss.
Despite some decent stats last week in Nevada, UH was rolled by a team many consider to be one of the worst in the nation. It was a humbling victory, and was met with what coach Mac called “new internal changes.” What are those changes? I guess we will have to see.
