A 46-year-old man is dead after witnesses saw the man jump into the Ala Wai canal on Sunday afternoon. The man was pulled from the canal after he failed to surface, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital
The witness and other bystanders pulled the victim out of the water near Namahana Street and called 911 at about 3:18 p.m. Fire Department spokesman Capt. Gary Lum said bystanders performed CPR on the man. Paramedics took him to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
No reason was given as of yet into why the man jumped. No foul play is thought to be involved, at least right now.
