The first real high surf advisory for the winter of 2012 in Hawaii has been issued by the National Weather Service. Surf could reach as high as 18 feet along north-facing shores of all islands and 14 feet along west facing shores due to a northwest swell, the National Weather Service said.
A high surf advisory has been issued for the north and west-facing shores of all islands from 10 a.m. today until 6 p.m. Wednesday. This according to the National Weather Service.
Wave heights are expected to build today and Tuesday, gradually diminishing Wednesday. This is a great time for surfers who have been waiting for the big waves to get here to go out and get some sick rides on. A small craft advisory has also been issued and will be in effect from noon today until 6 a.m. Tuesday. You know what “small craft” means, so don’t take your tiny fishing boats out.
Winds from the southwest are expected to reach up to 23 miles per hour with northwest swells up to six feet, according to the National Weather Service. Haze is forecast throughout.
