For the second year in a row there will; be no Kokua Festival. However, Jack Johnson recently announced a lineup of island concerts to coincide with the release of “Jack Johnson and Friends – Best of Kokua Festival” compilation.
We are sure the Kokua Festival will return the Waikiki Shell at some point, but right now this is more of the focus. The compilation will be released April 17 and an interisland acoustic tour with John Cruz and Paula Fuga will start two days later.
The tour will feature show dates on all four of the major islands, starting on Kauai and ending on Hawaii Island (Big Island). Overall, the interisland tour will feature a show at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center, then go to Oahu for two shows at the Hawaii Theatre on April 21 and 22, two shows April 25 and 26 at the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, and finally two more shows at the Kahilu Theatre on Hawaii island on April 28 and 29.
Proceeds for all of the sales of the “Jack Johnson and Friends – Best of Kokua Festival” compilation, along with all the interisland tour proceeds will go to benefit The Kokua Foundation.
Tickets for the Hawaii Theatre shows will go on sale March 3 and must be purchased in person at the theater box office at 1130 Bethel Street. From 9 a.m. to noon, only members of Jack and Kim Johnson’s Kokua Hawaii Foundation can purchase presale tickets, and from noon on, the sale will be open to the general public.
Cost is $50 for balcony and upper balcony seats, and $75 for loge and floor-level seats. There will be a two-ticket limit per person for the general public.
