Japan Aid Concert

Beyond Honolulu is a community website, first and foremost.  And, while Japan is not technically a part of the Oahu community at large, I couldn’t help but feel the need to advertise this upcoming event.  Being 1/2 Japanese myself, and realizing that much of Oahu’s population can trace their origins back to the land of the Rising Sun, the catastrophes of recent days have touched the entire community of our island.With that said, come out and support our friends at www.lightsleepers.net as they present a live concert with all proceeds to benefit Japan’s cause.  Held on Saturday, April 16th from 5 – 11pm at LOFT IN SPACE (831 Queen Street — aka Fresh Cafe), this event hosts a great lineup of some of Oahu’s top local music talents.

• ALT/AIR – A Japanese jazz / bossa nova band
• The Samples (an all-star line up of members from various local bands)
• Nomasterbacks & Kavet the Catalyst (full disclosure — I’m 1/3 of Nomasterbacks) – local, home-grown hip-hop
• And an incredible line-up of other performers and DJ’s from our great island community.
