Current enrollment numbers came out of the University of Hawaii today. It looks like the UH system has hit a record enrollment number, as it now has 60,519 students enrolled throughout the state.
University officials on Wednesday said fall enrollment has increased five straight years and 20 percent, or by 10,000 students, since 2006. The latest fall enrollment figure breaks the previous mark set last fall by 288 students. While number seems staggering, there is always room for more, and UH could definitely use the money.
This is a good sign for UH. Looks like the school is continuing to grab interested students from around the world. It also looks like the UH overall system around the state is performing well.
Enrollment was up across the board on all campuses, save for Kapiolani Community College, which saw a drop of 3.3%. The rest of the system did well, including the main Manoa campus, which gained 176 students and its enrollment now stands at 20,313.
Other campuses faired well too. UH-West Oahu, which enrolled its fifth freshman class, reported 1,699 students, up 205 from last year, or 13.7 percent. Hilo gained 64 students and was at 4,149. UH Maui College saw an increase of 3.9 percent.
Things are looking good for the UH system right now. Hopefully they can continue to increase these numbers.
