Prosecutors are set to charge a 44-year old man that lives in the Waipahu Community Care Home area with second degree attempted murder in the stabbing of a community care home operator Tuesday morning.
Jonathan Laronel is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is expected to make an initial appearance in District Court this morning.
Police said Laronel, a resident at a foster home for adults, attacked Oscar Anuciacion with a steak knife while Anunciacion was sleeping on an air bed in the living room of the care home on Apowale Street in Waipahu at about 3 a.m.
Anunciacion suffered numerous cuts but the wounds were superficial and he was treated and released from the Queen’s Medical Center. Laronel has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is also diabetic, Anunciacion said.
Why this man was living alone is anyone’s guess, it almost cost someone their life.
