Summer of 2012 is still a ways away, and I guess that is good because the big budget “Battleship” movie is set to return to Hawaii for two extra days of filming on Oahu in November.
According to local casting director Katie Doyle, Battleship director Peter Berg “is coming back to re-shoot some pivotal scenes and he has asked us to find a few new characters.” It will be Doyle’s job to find about 10 “old salts” who can appear to be 70-80 years of age to portray “passionate veterans,” passionate in the sense of being able to “think on their feet and have fun ad-libbing” while on camera.
“We need war vets or actors who can appear to be vets, and be enthusiastic,” she said. “This is in addition to the thirty-odd folks that we’ve already used that Peter enjoyed working with. He’d like these 10 men to have some acting chops and don’t necessarily have to be SAG (members of the Screen Actors Guild).
“They have to be in good physical shape, and comfortable and confident on set. Peter loves to find interesting faces.”
If you think this is you, then go ahead and submit your information to the email below. Doyle stated that auditions would probably take place within the next 14 days, with the chosen actors to participate in two days of filming in early November.
“Battleship” is based on the classic Naval combat game, and includes some new twists and turns that only Hollywood could create. An action-adventure, sci-fi theme, Battleship stars Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano, and Rhianna.
