University of Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin met for more than an hour Sunday night with UH-Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw and Athletic Director Jim Donovan just after the team’s annual awards banquet at the Sheraton Waikiki.
None of the three would comment after the meeting, but a decision on McMackin’s future with the program could come soon. What do you guys think? Is he done, or should he continue on? I will be reporting a bigger story on the overall season, as well as the future outlook of the program once a decision has been made. I personally think he needs to go.
McMackin has a year remaining on a $1.1 million annual contract, but just concluded a disappointing 6-7 season Saturday with a 41-20 loss to Brigham Young University. $1.1 million is too much for a 6-7 record in your fourth year, and never winning a bowl game.
