Huge waves hit the North Shore this weekend, and while surf is expected to go down some by this evening, another swell is expected to hit Hawaii on Monday, bringing with it waves estimated at 18-22 feet.
The advisory is in effect for north and west facing shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai and Niihau, north facing shores of Maui and west shores on Hawaii island. Surf on north shores was expected reach 18 to 22 feet before declining to about 8 to 14 feet. West shores should see surf of 10 to 15 feet, declining to 6 to 10 feet by this afternoon.
Strong rip currents are still dangerous for inexperienced swimmers and surfers and beach-goers are warned to stay well away from the shore break. As stated above, another swell is expected to arrive Sunday night and bring surf topping 20 feet Monday before declining on Tuesday.
The waves are excellent out there, if you have the chance, get out and see them.
