The University of Hawaii released their 2012 football schedule earlier today. The schedule has been eagerly awaited, as this is the first schedule under new head coach Norm Chow, as well as the first football schedule released with UH being a part of the Mountain West Conference for football.
The biggest surprise may be the fact that UH has to play two sets of back-to-back road games. The Warriors will open their season Sept. 1 at Southern California, and will make their MWC debut Sept. 22 against Nevada at Aloha Stadium under new head coach Norm Chow.
The Warriors will then play at Brigham Young Sept. 29 and at San Diego State Oct. 6.
“It’s awfully exciting yet it will be a very challenging schedule,” Chow said in a statement. “The conference is such that we don’t have to travel too far but it is still very difficult and that’s what we expected now that we’ve moved to the next level. I told our players about it this morning and they were fired up and excited to get this thing started.”
UH is still looking for a non-conference game to complete a 13-game schedule and has two open dates, Sept. 8 or Oct. 20, in which to slot it. The new 2012 football schedule looks exciting, but very challenging at the same time. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
