Elton John is coming back to Hawaii in early January of 2015 for one show only at the Blaisdell. He will perform on January 10th in Hawaii as he prepares to gear up for his three-year “Million Dollar Piano” tour in Las Vegas.
The beloved and also very flamboyant John will bring his entire piano and band to Honolulu, which includes original members Davey Johnstone (guitar) and Nigel Olsson (drums), along with Matt Bissonette (bass), John Mahon (percussion) and Kim Bullard (keyboards). Elton is now a robust 67 years old, but he is as strong as ever on stage and still puts on one of the best shows around.
His most recent album, “The Diving Board,” produced by T-Bone Burnett, was released in 2013. His first, “Empty Sky,” came out in 1969. 45 years and counting, Elton John is still going strong.
John has played the island several times, with the first time being in 1971 at what was then called the HIC Arena. Over the years John has made over a dozen trips back to Hawaii to perform, with most of those trips being headed up by Hawaii promoter Tom Moffatt. His most recent shows in Hawaii came back in 2012 when he played two shows on Oahu.
