Ok so I am in no way a steak connoisseur, as my start to eating steak came later than most, which was into early adulthood. Because our family didn’t get to indulge in pricey dinners that included steak, I never got accustomed to the taste or the under-cooked, pink color of a medium rare steak. I remember sticking to my guns, and ordering it well-done, and made sure that it was cooked so much that not a peep of pink shown through the middle!
Little did I know how much I was missing out during those early years!I have since grown out of that well-done stage and onto ordering my steak medium rare. Plus, I am known NOT to order steak from none other than fancy, normally higher priced restaurants. I just have this perception that steak meals that are $20 or less will more than likely be a lower grade, fatty cut of meat. I know…I’m just weird like that.Well to my delight, I was just recently introduced to the yummy, mouth-watering steak plates at Times Supermarket, Pearl City.
Yes, I did say Times Supermarket, and not some fancy restaurant on the island! I have to say I was a little apprehensive to try it, BUT for the incredible price of around $7.00, you cannot go wrong. The plate includes rice, side salad, choice of steak, and a drink. There are also other choices to choose from like shrimp, which is equally yummy. If you are wondering what to eat on a Friday night after a long days work, head towards Times in Pearl City and you probably won’t be alone – as you’ll be greeted by a long line of other people clamoring for that ono-lishious steak plate!
